Žabljak is the highest town in the Balkans: a mountain resort at 1,450 metres in the heart of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site of volcanic lakes, glacier-carved canyons, and peaks rising above 2,500 metres. The Tara River Canyon, the deepest in Europe at 1,300 metres, second deepest in the world, is accessible from Žabljak for rafting, zip-lining, and drone photography of a scale that simply does not exist elsewhere on the continent. Black Lake (Crno Jezero) sits at the edge of town, reflecting the Meded peak in its surface.
