Montenegro's winemaking tradition predates the Ottoman period, and the Plantaže estate south of Podgorica — at 2,310 hectares, one of the largest single wine-growing estates in Europe — remains the most concentrated expression of that tradition. The estate's flagship Vranac Pro Corde is a wine of genuine international standing, aged in French oak and produced in quantities that barely satisfy the local market.

FFGR Montenegro's wine tour itinerary departs from Kotor or Tivat in the morning, travels via the scenic Lake Skadar road through Virpazar — a village of stone houses at the lake's edge where small producers offer natural wines from indigenous varieties — before arriving at Plantaže for a private cellar tour and guided tasting with the estate's head sommelier.

The tasting, arranged in advance for FFGR Montenegro guests, covers six to eight wines across the full portfolio: the peppery Vranac, the oxidative Krstač white, and several limited-release expressions available only at the estate. A lunch of traditional Montenegrin cuisine — lamb slow-roasted under the peka, cheese from the northern highlands — is served on the estate terrace.
