Dubrovnik is the most celebrated city of the Adriatic — a limestone-walled Renaissance republic floating above turquoise water, the model for the fictional King's Landing and the actual nerve centre of Croatia's UHNW summer. The Old City Walls (1,940 metres, walkable in an hour) provide the most dramatic elevated promenade in Europe; the Stradun, the marble main street, is lined with baroque palaces and Ragusian-era churches. In July and August, Dubrovnik is intensely concentrated: yachts pack Gruž Harbour, the Old Town restaurants (360°, Proto, Nautika) are booked weeks in advance, and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival animates every outdoor theatre.
